Arrived in Munich

munchin.png

We´re in Munich ahead of schedule, as we were transferred to a Lufthansa flight from Bangkok to Munich, instead of flying from Bangkok to Helsinki, staying there for 12 hours, then flying into Munich. Believe it or not, the Finnair flights we were booked on were overbooked (apparently those Finns like to get out…)and we were asked to transfer to a direct flight. We just loved Hoi An. It’s a small town (pop. 80,000) with a vibrant artistic community of painters, potters, wood carvers, silk weavers and tailors. The shops are all little one or two story ancient houses with beautiful colorful Chinese lanterns and caged birds at every entrance, and flowering vines climbing the outside walls or falling from the roof line. It’s wonderful. We finally feel like we’re on vacation after the worthwhile, but emotionally difficult tour through Cambodia.

One Day to Departure

Well we leave for Thailand tomorrow. It will be an extremely long two day starting with a 3 hour drive to Thunder Bay from Marathon, fly from Thunder Bay (3:30pm July 5) to Toronto (5:08pm July 5), Toronto (8:30pm July 5) to Helsinki, Finland (11:35am July 6), Helsinki (11:35pm July 6) to Bangkok, Thailand (1:40pm July 7). We have a 12 hour layover in Helsinki which we plan to use by touring the city.

Our first order of business in Bangkok is to arrange a visa for Cambodia with may take a day or two. We will keep posting information about our trip here as often as we can.

Geo & Noel
