Last Day in Hong Kong

We got up late, 8:30 am. I think jet lag is taking hold, as we find we cannot stay up very late, but are forcing ourselves to stay up to get quickly adjusted to the time change (18 hours difference).

The day started with a down pour of rain like I have not seen in years. The harbor clouded over in a matter of minutes. It was so bad that the view from our window that lets us see Hong Kong and the typhoon harbor were completely gone and we could only see across the street.

Hong Kong

We got up early an puttered around the room getting things done. Left hotel around 9 am in search of breakfast. We decided to go to the “Happy Garden Noodles & Congee Kitchen” on Canton Road. Our walk to the kitchen went through Kowloon Park. Today most of the Tia Chi was finished up before we arrived. We tried a different part of the park today and found a series of ponds with water lilies in full bloom. From these pools we followed a man made stream to a water fountain. It was interesting to see so many people just wondering around the park or sitting and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Hong Kong

The train ride from the airport to Kowloon, about 25 minutes, got a taxi to the hotel (West Hotel) that took 10 min. Everything from the Airport to the train station is very organized and orderly. There are people everywhere to help out.

Once we got settled and showered we went out to explore the Temple St. Night Market. We wondered for the better part of 2 hours through the stalls. I picked up a deck of Mah Jong cards that I have been looking for. We looked for a place to eat, but this requires more research, most of the restaurants had their meals, still alive, and on display for all to see. We finally stopped at a bakery and got some almond cookies.
