Hiking In Innsbruck

Hey!
We’ve been having a great time hiking in the Alps for the last few days. It poured rain for the first two days we were here, but we went hiking anyways – it turned out well, as we met some great new people and renewed some friendships with some other summer hike regulars.

Today we actually went on a new hike to the Kuhtai Valley. We took a different route up a mountain side covered in Scottish Highland cattle (I’ve promised myself I won´t take anymore cow pictures, but I took more today – long haired cows are irresistible.), black and white long haired sheep, goats and several wild flowers. The views were outstanding – we were on a mountain overlooking a river valley with a quaint little town at the bottom of it, and rocky peaks with glaciers sitting in granite bowls right across from us. Everywhere we looked, the views were breathtaking.

We were thrilled to meet up with our friends Hubert from Australia, Anne from England and Petra from Germany. We regret missing our friends Isabelle, Pascal and Eric this year, but we will make plans to hike with them next summer.

Tomorrow we hike to Navis – a spectacular walk through a forest with waterfalls that comes out near a peak with a glacier on it. We hope the weather holds…

Wednesday we´re off to Italy for a couple of days to stuff ourselves stupid with gelatto – I know a gellateria in Florence that´s worth the price of the airfare over here. We´re staying in a 14th century historic building in Venice – I´m very excited. We promise to take lots of pictures to share…

As usual we miss our families, friends and dogs…
