Well I finally finished editing and posting all the photos that I took on the Islands and Incas tour to the Web site. They can be viewed at

I also posted a couple of panoramic photos I took as well under the panoramic section of the site.

We experienced our own travel mishaps on the way home from Lima. It took the flight crew and the pilot about an hour to convince all the Peruvians on the plane that they were indeed on a plane that would not take off until everyone was seated and buckled in. (Many of the passengers apparently believed they were in a collective bus and could stand up.) I know you’re all jealous you didn’t get to spend another hour sitting on the runway at an airport with us. Regardless – as soon as we hit the ground in Atlanta, everyone stood up again, and the pilot had to advise them that we had a 10 minute taxi to the gate, and we weren’t moving anywhere until they were all sitting down again…

These delays resulted in our missing our connecting flight to Toronto, which was relatively painlessly re-routed for us, and then on to Thunder Bay where we could not collect our bags as they were still somewhere in Atlanta. We did get them two days later, after we were obliged to pay $40.00 to have them sent from Thunder Bay to Marathon on the bus! We’ll send Delta the bill.

I’m very pleased to report that we’re sure our idiot dog Andie (the one who freezes himself to things) actually recognized us when we returned from our trip! Usually he’s just happy to see anyone who comes to the door, but I’m pretty sure he was happy to see us – specifically – from the dance he did when we arrived home (there was no Cher or Michael Jackson music for him to dance to…). After 10 years of living with him, it was a validating moment!

We experienced three days of summer in Marathon upon our return (23 degrees C) which we took full advantage of by going for a full day kayak trip, and going mountain biking. Now it’s back to the standard weather ~ 8+, with a cold rain, so we’re really looking forward to taking off again on Aug. 17 to Austria to hike in the Alps. We wish everyone could join us again…

We hope everyone is well and enjoying the rest of your summer.
