Day 11, Boat Ride
- Comments: No Comments Yet
Took a boat ride on Mediterranean with Mama, Allison, Mesut and Azu. Boat broke down 20 min. into the trip. We drifted for an hour, very relaxing, no problems. We were picked up by another boat and continued with the trip.
Stopped in a small bay to swim in the Mediterranean while our tour guide barbecued shiskobobs for lunch. Great time, water was beautiful green / blue color and warm. Lunch on boat was great. Ice cream boat drove up and sold ice cream to us.
Continued on boat past the “sunken city” ruins of entire building underwater. Result of an earthquake. Very interesting. Stopped in a bay that used to be the port / dockyard of the sunken city. Disappointed to see ruins covered in graffiti, but it was a beautiful bay. Old woman in row boat rowed up to sell us scarves with sea shell.
Continued on boat to Semina, an old fortified fishing village in ruins. Explored fort and Lycian pillar tombs, guide was very good.
Finished great day on the boat, on the way back to two we stopped at Myra. Site of fascinating ancient ruins, old amphitheater and cliff side Lycian tombs. Ruins strewn about on ground very ornate, lots of Medusa heads.
