Day 8, Patara

Took the bus to Fetiye (glad we’re not staying there), then to Patara. Picked up at Patara junction by Memut from Rose Pension. Got settled into pension, a quaint place with rose garden, olive, peach, lime and pomegranate trees in yard with chickens and goats free ranging it.

Very small downtown, two streets of restaurants, places to buy suntan lotion, barber, bars, tourist souvenirs and bus tickets. Cute and quaint. Quiet, thank God. Walked 1 km to beach, passed incredible Roman ruins, unexplainable caves (human made) by the side of the road. Very picturesque. Beach itself is a protected turtle nesting area, 20 km long, largely untouristed.
